Music Video I directed and animated for “Humpty”

Triple D is one of the music industry’s secret weapons. He’s a ghost drummer for some of the most famous bands in the world, capable of sounding like almost anyone on any record, and sought after by artists in every genre. When he approached me to produce his brand identity and the release campaign for his first single as a solo artist, I was expecting a ton of direction from his end.

Instead the only notes I received was that there had to be roses. They reminded him of his late mother. Also, burgundy was his favorite color.

The song was called “Humpty”. It featured lighting fast rapper and multi-instrumentalist Sugi Dakks. I would have to create an aesthetic that captured the attitude of the song and Sugi’s performance, while incorporating themes that could be present in all of Triple D’s brand identity.

I decided to create the music video first, sourcing, coloring, and animating creative assets to achieve a visual prosody with the lyrics. That way the cover art, merchandise, and social media posts I created would reference that world, allowing Triple D to present his music not as just another single but one part of a new creative universe that fans could explore.
